David OrfordDavid Orford
Founder and Executive Chairman

David Orford established Financial Synergy in 1978, and now acts as the company's Executive Chairman. David's breadth of experience in the superannuation industry, spans across areas as diverse as financial planning, marketing, product design, information technology, administration, investment management, actuarial services, compliance and trusteeship.

David regularly writes articles to industry publications, makes submissions to the government and speaks at conferences. His depth of experience allows him to confidently present on a range of topics from financial planning, investments and superannuation, to the impact of legislative changes on individuals. He is extremely interested in the financial well-being of our country, and our fellow citizens.

Considered to be one of Australia's most eminent actuaries, David is an expert in investment administration platforms, an accomplished public speaker and was nominated Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001. He achieved a Special Distinction in his Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) and an Honours in his Bachelor of Science, both from Melbourne University. David is also an active member of professional associations and policy committees, including The Executive Connection, ASFA's National Small Funds Committee and the Financial Planning Association.

Stephen Mackley
CEO

Stephen Mackley joined Financial Synergy in August 2010 to head up the company’s operations as CEO.

Having spent five years in Senior Management at Financial Synergy earlier in his career, Stephen has a solid understanding of the history and development of the company, motivating him to continue to grow Financial Synergy as a successful organisation. Stephen's strengths lie in his ability to build business, successfully leading companies to comfortable positions of sustainable growth. He spent 13 years in Executive Management positions with a General Insurance comapny and part of this venture included the establishment of what was to become APIA (the Pensioner Insurance company).

For the past ten years, Stephen has been CEO of QSP Asia Pacific Ltd, a UXC Ltd company. During this time he established the company names UXC Performance Management and built it into a strong business objects, cognos and SAS product and service company. UXC is the largest Australia owned services company in Australia with a turnover of over $720 Million.

Stephen holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCOMM) and a Masters Degree (MBA) awarded by Melbourne University. Aditionally, he is a certified CPA having been the Chief Accountant during his time in the insurance industry.

Andrew Wood, Head of Fund Services

Andrew Wood joined Financial Synergy in December 2009 as Head of Fund Services, to manage the operations in the investments and administration division. 

Andrew has an extensive accounting and investment administration background gained over the past 15 years in the financial services industry. His previous role was Head of Custody and Investment Administration at Chimaera Capital Limited (a division of Chimaera Financial Group). Prior to this he was manager of the Fund Accounting Division at National Custodian Services (an operating division of the National Australia Bank Group of companies).

As well as bringing a solid skill set to the company, Andrew supports his professional development with a CPA qualification.

Rebecca Monforte
Marketing Manager

Rebecca Monforte joined Financial Synergy in February 2009 as Marketing Communications Coordinator and in June 2010 was promoted to Marketing Manager where she is responsible for company wide marketing activities including events, communications, branding and public relations.

Rebecca has a diverse cross-section of industry experience in the marketing field, having worked for L'Oreal on the Lancome brand, General Motors and Holden, and the Austock Group (stockbroking). Her core strength lies in her creative thinking, solid communication skills and strategic business approach to marketing projects. A passion for innovation and digital marketing allow her the opportunity to incorporate out of the box options to support sales growth, and organisation growth for Financial Synergy.

As an active member of AMI (Australian Marketing Institute) and WNA (Women's Network Australia), Rebecca ensures continuous professional and personal development compliments her role as Marketing Manager. Aditionally, Rebecca supports her professional experience with a Bachelor of Business (Marketing) Degree awarded by RMIT University.
